Introduction

Hello.

For at least the next year, this is site will be my online notebook. I’m a graduate student studying in Montreal, Quebec. My research interests are in the area of video blogging, online video distribution, user-created content, and citizen’s journalism. I’m also interested in online phenomena in general and trying to figure out how it all connects to what’s happening around us in the real world, how it change’s the way we relate to each other, the way we perceive each other, and the way we interact with each other.

I admit that my interests are quite broad, especially considering how rapidly the digital landscape is changing (I promise that I won’t use language like “the digital landscape” in the future). However, I hope that this can be a place where I can refine my research interests, reflect on my own academic work, and keep a record of online resources that I come across. I spend a lot of time online and I end up coming across many interesting things that are probabaly worth sharing and that I seem to quickly forget about. My hope is that this blog will help me to not only remember those interesting websites, but also help me to get a better sense of what’s happening online.

In creating this blog, I’m not claiming to be an authority on every issue I talk about. I am, like many others, just hoping to learn more and I consider this to helpful part of the process. I’m not interested in using this blog to broadcast my ideas. Rather, my hope is to use this blog to record my own research process. I hope that it can be a tool to produce knowledge and spark my own creativity.

I hope to learn more about what’s happening online by participating myself.  I’d appreciate feedback from anyone who comes across this blog. Please leave comments and I will do my best to get back to you (especially if you’re one of my professors).
